Disney Pixar Cars - Mater 1:24th Disney Store vs. Mater 1:24th MattyCollector

If you didn't realize it, Mattel previously released a Lightning McQueen and Mater in the 1:24th Scale. They were originally released a few years ago at the Disney Store and locations such as The World of Disney at the theme parks. They sold for $19.99 and were only available for a short time. Once again, Alternator Valley reader Tim, has contributed some fine pictures of his Mater in 1:24th Scale from the Disney Store for us to compare.

It is interesting to take a side by side look! The NEW Mater has much more deco and detail. Martin Arriola from Mattel's design team told me this previous Mater can't compare to this new Mater. I hope not, as the NEW Mater will run you $50.00 instead of $19.00! Again, Mater is expected to come with a dust cover made of chipboard with full color printing, and will be shipped in a corrugated shipper. There's no release info. We all know how "reliable" MattyCollector.com has been. Only time will reveal what Matty has in his big ole head!

Disney Pixar Cars - Mater and Ramone 1:24th Scale Special Preview

What better way to end the week, than with another Special Preview! Today, I have both Mater and Ramone in the 1:24th scale and they're terrific! These are "First Looks," and are not the final designs. Here you go...

Mater has far more detail than the previous 1:24th release

These are very cool! Mater has much more deco and detail. I was told the previous Mater done in 1:24th can't compare to this new Mater. You've got to love the fact that you can pose Ramone's hydraulic lifts! They are expected to come with a dust cover made of chipboard with full color printing, and shipped in a corrugate shipper. I don't have any release dates for you yet.

Disney Pixar Cars - Upcoming Cars Pin Sets

I know a lot of you collect pins in addition to Cars die cast toys. I thought I'd let you know about a few Cars pin sets that may interest you. You can supposedly order both sets I'm going to show you. I personally like the Mystery Tin Set.

The first set is being released on March 24, 2009 at Disney World. It is an Open Edition Starter Set and will retail for $24.95. You get four pins...a Lightning McQueen, a Mater, a Chick Hicks, and a pin with Guido and Luigi. You also get a lanyard and the set comes packed in a plastic pouch. The second set will be released on March 27, 2009 at Disneyland. It will be a Limited Edition Set of 2000. This set will contain ten pins...a Sheriff, a Sally, a Ramone, a Luigi, a Guido, a Mack, a Lightning McQueen, a Mater, a Sarge and a Doc. Disney Pixar Cars - Preview of Bubba from Story Tellers Series

Remember the Story Tellers die cast Cars? They were Target Exclusives that came out a number of months ago. The stories came from the "World of Cars" book. The first story in the book is called "Hoodwinked." It's about a mean ole tow truck named Bubba, who taunts Mater and challenges him to a race. Jeez, everyone wants to pick on poor old Mater! I'm sure many of you thought the series was over. Well, here are pictures from the book, along with the Public's First look at Bubba!!

Bubba is Expected to be released as part of the Story Tellers series on September 1, 2009. I would expect the series to continue to be Exclusive to Target. I asked whether Bubba would be packaged the same as the previous Story Tellers releases, and was told the packaging may very well change. We'll have to see how Bubba looks once he gets his paint job.

Disney Pixar Cars - Jibbitz Crocs Shoe Charms

Here's a cool thing you may not know exists...Jibbitz Cars Charms for Crocs! I came across them while sailing on the Disney Magic through the Panama Canal in May of last year. They attach to the holes in the comfy shoes, and add a fun personalization to them. Kids certainly love them and they definitely caught the eye of this big kid as well! What incredible workmanship! These will be on display at the Mattel Booth at the New York City Comic-Con from February 6th through the 8th. They are Expected to be released in the Spring in the 1:55th scale! The packaging will be different from the "Mainline." I'm certainly anticipating the pictures for the rest of the Cars Toons line! How cool will the Bulldozer be from "El Materdor?!" How about the stylin' Cars from "Tokyo Mater?!!" This gives collectors something great to look forward to adding to their collection.

Disney Pixar Cars - Disney Store Exclusive Cars Nanos

Remember the old Penny Racers? They were the little pullback cars that did wheelies when you put a penny in their back end. The Disney Store has what are called Nano Racers which are pretty much the same. They are Disney Store exclusives and are slightly larger than the Disney Pixar Cars Minis. You can get Cars characters such as Mater and Lightning McQueen. The individual Cars are $2.50, while triple packs are three times the cost at $7.50.

So, another toy to play with on your desk if you need a Disney Pixar Cars fix! They look cute, but I am really partial to die cast metal, rather than plastic.

I still like my Disney Pixar Cars Zip Zaps the best! I'd love to see Radio Shack release more Zip Zaps for Cars 2 The Global Race.
