Disney Pixar Cars - Target.com Pre-Selling Haulers

The thing about collecting is that collectors scour the world for the best prices and supply. Today they found that Target.com is selling Disney Pixar's Cars Haulers old and NEW! I had a problem finding them on their site, so to make your life easier, I have them here at this link for you...Target Cars Haulers The URL was a mile long and I had to type every character, so I hope you appreciate the effort. It has also been brought to my attention that you can use the Target Discount Code TCMVS7RD to save $5.00. Here are the three New Haulers they are Pre-Selling...

RPM is on Pre-Sale at Target.com

No Stall is parked in a warehouse for 2 to 6 weeks

Trunk Fresh rounds out the trio of New Releases

Not a bad price at $12.99 plus shipping and handling. Target actually beats Walmart, which sells the Haulers for $13.77! Can you believe that?! Target not only beats Walmart by $0.78 cents, but actually has them available on their website. Walmart has always stunk when it comes to selling Cars items on Walmart.com. They are never available!

Disney Pixar Cars - The Not Gonna Do It Gask-its Toys R Us Promo

We've been on many a goose chase. The infamous Walmart Pallet Drop in October, then November, then December! Now, people have been looking for a Gask-its promotion at Toys R Us that hasn't materialized. Why? Well, sit back and I'll tell you...

Sidewall Shine was a winner, but TRU reportedly has 9000
N2O Cola Cars parked in their warehouse waiting for a home!

I heard "Unofficially" from my undercover janitors deep inside the offices of Mattel, that Toys R Us still has 9000 N2O Colas left from the most recent 5 for 1 promotion! Additionally, I heard that fulfillment was a mess. Remember how many of you received Hot Wheels cars by mistake? Thus, the promotion was a bust! A disappointment! A fail-you-r to say the least!! With this in mind, any idea of doing another promotion with Gask-its is off the table.

So, I wouldn't expect to see any new 5 for 1 promotions for a while. I know a number of people were not happy to see that Mattel would be releasing an N2O Launcher. Can't say I disagree, but I can say that these promo cars were never marketed as "Exclusive" in any way.

You can count on me to bring you any news as it breaks.

I hope to bring you something great this week! Waiting on China to see if I can. Don't miss it! Subscribe to Alternator Valley!

Disney Pixar Cars - N2O Welcomed By Racing Committee

N2O Cola Welcomed by Race Official Tom & Nitroade

All the pomp and circumstance deserved by a celebrity was given to N2O Cola as he arrived in town today! Race Official Tom was the first to welcome N2O on behalf of the Piston Cup staff. Nitroade did the honors as the representative of the Race Cars. N2O was honored and felt like part of the circuit immediately! He was quoted as saying, "I just hope we have a good season, and I quickly become one of the boys!"

I bet you didn't know N2O's real name is Manny Flywheel! He's been a fervent spokescar for his sponsor N2O Cola. The ironic thing is Manny can't drink N2O because it is illegal on the racing circuit. N2O Cola gives engines an extra pop through the ingredient of nitrous.

N2O is expected to make stops in many other towns while on the racing circuit. Don't forget you have until December 31, 2008 to get N2O Cola to drop by your home track. Read all about it at this link N2O Cola Promotion! This is Orlandog Ken for RSN!

Disney Pixar Cars - N2O Cola Update

As I wrote in my last entry about the N2O Cola promotion, Mattel has updated their site and you can now find these pics of the Car on display. The interesting thing is that the acrylic case has the Cars logo on the front, as opposed to Sidewall Shine where the logo is on the back of the case. I don't know if this was done on purpose, or is a simple mistake. I guess we'll find out when we get the Car. If you don't like it that way, just simply turn the top around and it will then be on the back. Again, visit this link to complete your order for your N2O Cola Car! N2O Cola Promotion

Disney Pixar Cars - N2O Cola Promotion Revs UP!

Gentle Collectors, start your engines and get ready to race off to Toys R Us! The race "Officially" starts on October 26, 2008 and runs from 10/26/08 - 12/31/08! Just like the recent Sidewall Shine promotion, you simply purchase 5 single pack Cars character vehicles and send in the required items to get an N2O Cola Car! There's now a list of the 97 different UPC Codes of the Cars you can buy to fulfill the purchase requirement. Click on the picture to see the full size image so you can read the UPC Codes. The same web site used for the Sidewall Shine promotion is where you'll visit to complete your order. Click here N2O Cola Promotion to fill out your order. The picture has yet to be changed out, but will likely show N2O Cola in a display case by October 26th.

Did you get the chance to get Sidewall Shine? I'm certainly going to buy a few more stocking stuffers so I can get a few N2O's! The Cars and the display are superb! If you have yet to get one, you are missing out! A lot of people are gonna get Cars for Christmas and like it! I can also guarantee you that I have all 97 Cars that correspond to the UPC Codes! Do you? That's a lotta Cars, and there's a lotsa more coming! Mama Mia!

Imagine if these suckers were a scale of 1:10, instead of the 1:55th scale? You'd literally have to build a room onto your house! Add in the haulers, the city props and all the characters. It would be cool though!

Disney Pixar Cars - How Do You Collect?

A friend who also collects Cars die cast toys called me and asked me how I collect. Basically, she wanted to know if I collect EVERY variation and anything that comes out. Personally, I follow a very simple strategy. As new Cars come out, I simply add them to my collection. I am not a collector who will buy every Desert backed character, then buy every World of Cars backed variation, and now the soon to be released Race Track backed variation. Why buy the same Car three times? To get the different packaging. Nah! It is still the same Car. Others would say getting every packaging variation is cool to them. I say it gets to be impractical and too expensive. But, as the saying goes, "To each his own."

I am collecting like a large number of collectors...I am building two sets, one to keep Mint On Card, and one to eventually open and display as part of a Radiator Springs diorama. I also collect Movie Moments that have unique characters. For example Flik and Flea, Sully and Mike, or Dinoco Blue Mia and Tia. I won't get Movie Moments such as Cruisin' McQueen and Sally because they've been released individually. The same holds true for triple packs such as Al Oft, Tow and Race Official Tom. They've all been released individually. Gold Mia and Tia with Bling Bling McQueen however, have not all been released individually, so I bought that triple pack.

I buy all the Limited Edition or Limited Release Cars such as Blu-Ray McQueen, Lightning Storm McQueen, Chase McQueen with Bumper Stickers and Chase Fred with Bumper Stickers. I also get the Promotional Cars such as the recently released Sidewall Shine in a display case.

One area of Cars collecting I'd like to get a few of are Error Cars. Cars with the wrong wheels or missing an obvious element. Fred without his license plate comes to mind. Would Kori Turbowitz be considered an Error? She has no side view mirrors. How about Mario Andretti's rims being the wrong color? Packaging errors are fun, but not really an error in the Car itself. A lot of those have been found. A yellow Ramone in a Lightning McQueen package, or a Doc Hudson in a Mater package for example.

Finally, I've been collecting Cars that have been autographed. I have Darryl Waltrip's and Mario Andretti's signatures on their respective Cars characters. I'm bummed I'll never be able to get George Carlin's signature due to his passing. I'll keep working on the rest of the characters and see where I end up.

So, how to you collect ? Are you similar to me? Are you a crazed completest? Do you only collect one character? There's no "Right" way! There's the way that makes you happy!

Disney Pixar Cars - The Arrival of Sidewall Shine

Many have started to receive their Sidewall Shine die cast cars! I got mine today. Sidewall Shine was greeted by Lightning McQueen and Luigi. His packing was very thorough and he needed help being unpacked...

Sidewall Shine in his temporary transport vehicle

Luigi gets to work on unpacking Sidewall

Lightning awaits Sidewall's unveiling

The folks at Mattel packed Sidewall very well

Sidewall says hello to Lightning

This is a very nice addition to my collection. I have to say the display case is fantastic! Mattel does this right. Both Sidewall and Lightning Storm are superbly done. Wait till you see what they come out with on MattyCollector.com!! Today was a happy day!

Toys R Us Tarnishing Sidewall Shine Promotion

I coined a phrase about poor customer service that rings true about a large number of companies in our country. It is simple, "I shouldn't have to work, to give somebody my business!" Since the Sidewall Shine five for one promotion launched on August 18, 2008, I've gone to four of the five Toys R Us stores in Greater Orlando and found many sad and disturbing facts.

1. Just 1 person had heard "Something" about the promotion.
2. None of the stores had the fliers directing customers to the redemption site.
3. Every store had a pathetic inventory of die cast Cars. I'd estimate each store only had approximately a dozen toys. Most of what they had was pathetic as well. Ramones and Lightning McQueens.
4. The stores were quite a mess and poorly staffed.

Toys R Us can ill afford to be run so poorly. Is it any wonder the company has performed lousy for so long, and that the likes of Wal-Mart eat them for lunch!

I'm sure Toys R Us would blame Mattel for lack of supply and their reps not preparing the stores for the promotion. Mattel would simply say that Toys R Us is disorganized and hasn't communicated to their store managers. Either way, I am not a happy customer! I don't like driving all over and getting blank stares and finding stores with pathetic inventory! Wake up Toys R Us!

Mattel Launches Collectors Site July 28, 2008

Mattel's New collectors site, MattyCollector.com goes Live at 11:00am P.S.T. on July 28, 2008! I don't know what to tell you folks! I interviewed one of the people who deals with MattyCollector.com and he told me 8:00am E.S.T. I went to him yesterday before leaving Comic-Con and he then tells me it is Noon E.S.T. Now, I go to the site and it states 11:00am P.S.T.

Matty has grown-up and is now your source for News updates, Collectibles and Vintage Toy Galleries! Membership is something we all like...FREE! Visit the link above and register to be part of a New age of Mattel collecting.

On July 28, 2008 you'll be able to purchase the four Comic-Con Exclusives...

1. Disney/Pixar's Cars Lightning Storm McQueen

2. DC Universe Classics Lobo

3. DC Universe Justice League Giganta

4. Masters of the Universe Classics King Grayskull

Something I've been a strong advocate for will be implemented on MattyCollector.com, Purchase Limits. Members will be able to purchase a maximum of 2 of each item. This will be great for collectors, and help keep dealers from buying up massive quantities.

After this initial release, expect New items in October. There will be NO New Cars items UNTIL February of 2009. The four main lines that will be featured on MattyCollector.com will be...

1. Disney Pixar's Cars

2. Masters of the Universe Classics

3. Justice League Unlimited

4. and DC Universe

News Updates will be posted by Matty every 2 weeks after the initial launch.

Some other things you may like to know are...

• Items will not necessarily be "Limited Editions."

• Items released on MattyCollector.com will not appear in stores.

• Say you miss an item that had a run of 1000, Mattel may run another 1000 with a slight variation in packaging to give you a chance to get the item, but help hold collector value of the original with the variant.
• There may be a Membership for ongoing releases such as Masters of the Universe due to a monthly release.

Digest all this great News and take a look at MattyCollector.com on July 28, 2008!

The Thirty-Six (36) Piston Cup Racers Ready to Start the Race!

Each Piston Cup Racer's Number and Sponsor's Colors

The long awaited set contains many of the recognizable characters you've likely purchased long ago...Lightning McQueen, The King, Chick Hicks, Leakless, Nitroade, RPM 64 and Dale Earnhardt Junior. It features a few that have been in limited release such as Octaine Gain and Vinyl Toupee in a Target Set, and the Movie Moments pair Tow Cap and Gasprin. Five of the unreleased Cars have been put up with the Sneak Peak! The long awaited Apple Car, along with Faux Wheel Drive, Transberry Juice, Sputter Stop and the limited release Vinyl Toupee. As always, they look incredible!

Do you realize the Apple Car's number 84 was the year the famous Apple TV ad referencing George Orwell's novel "Nineteen Eighty-Four," came out? It was directed by one of my all time favorite directors...Ridley Scott! You may know some of his films...Alien, Blade Runner, Thelma & Louise and Gladiator! The famed ad heralded the launch of Apple's Macintosh. Funny how I've been a life-long fan of Apple, Ridley Scott and Pixar. They all stand for quality! Take a look at the famed ad below.

Faux Wheel Drive doesn't look too happy does he?

Transberry Juice sounds good enough for breakfast!

Sputter Stop looks like a relative of Chick Hicks!

Vinyl Toupee is one of the most unique Cars!

Writing this article has been fun. I hope you enjoyed it, and I'll certainly let you know when more information about the Motor Speedway of the South set is out. Hopefully, HotWheelCollectors.com will have a release date and cost soon. I'm certainly looking forward to adding this set to my collection.
